Thank you!!

Thank you for all the wonderful memories photographing your families. I will miss you all. It was a great 11 years! Time for me to do something different. Keep in touch.

The C family | Moorestown Child and Family Photographer

Each year I get the wonderful privilege to photograph this wonderful family. The boys are growing into such nice young kids each with their distinctive personalities. As you can tell from the pictures below who has the BIG personality in the family. The little one. He keeps you and his mom on your toes!!! Lucky for me they also call me “Auntie”. This year we chose a new spot that has lots of different areas to photograph. I also did my family at the same time, same place. Technically we did 3 photo shoots that day because we did one of just cousins too for my mothers Holiday cards. Thanks again guys. Love you, Auntie

I like the locations you chose for these shots and the kids did such a great job! I also love that you chose a steel stairway for a family shot – different and I like it!ReplyCancel

Michelle Baker Photography Baby Registry

Some new things are happening at Michelle Baker Photography and they are all being rolled out in January. So keep tuned for more neat things. Today I am going to talk about the Baby Registry. Do you want to give a great gift to your friend or family member for their baby shower? Are you planning a shower for your friend or family member? Our baby registry cards can be mailed out with your invitations. How this all works:

The baby registry is a complimentary service that we provide to all our newborn clients who have booked their newborn and/or maternity session with us. We provide you with registry cards to use in your shower invitations. Your friends and family can either call the studio or go online to order whatever denomination they would like.

Once a gift is purchased, the gift giver is then mailed a beautiful gift card to present to you at the shower or after the baby is born. We can also mail the gift card directly to the person also.  We also keep track of all your information so it can make your thank you’s a lot easier.

For our baby plan clients, we can keep the registry open and your friends and family can continue to contribute for special occasions and milestones. See, aren’t you glad your aren’t giving that boring “green” outfit anymore to your friends. Give them a gift that will be remembered and cherished for a lifetime.

Special Promotion for current clients!!!

Wow! After the craziness of the holiday season and the “busy” season for me, I am taking the time to update, restructure and add some great new options for you all. First let me thank each and every one of you. I would not be here if it weren’t for you all. I am truly blessed.

The first thing I do is back up all my photos twice and now I am backing up to “a Cloud” system so I will always have the photos that you have purchased. A new thing for this year is that I am only going to archive purchased images because quite frankly the images are taking over my hard drive and external hard drives. So here comes the great part for you….

**Special for the next 7 days I am offering any client from my start in 2010 a discount for digital images and prints before they go up in the “Cloud”**

All digital files are 50% off
If you want prints they are 25% off

**These are your steps to complete:**

1. Send me an email telling which gallery you would like me to reactivate.
2. You have until Friday January 18th to send me your order.
3. Most likely I will ship your order to you and waive the shipping costs.
4. You may pay by check or credit card over the phone.

Any questions feel free to call me 856-313-0130 or email me with any concerns.

Keep an eye out for future emails regarding new plans/ideas for the Baby plans, referral programs and other fun stuff. Also keep checking the BLOG or FACEBOOK for the occasional specials or upcoming events.
Thanks again for all you support and I look forward to working with you all in the future.

And because I can’t go without a picture…. Here is my Christmas card this year. It was a 5×5 trifold with front and back.

5 Week Old Baby B | Moorestown Lifestyle Child Baby Photographer

All newborn sessions do not have to be completed in the first 10 days of life if you do not want the curled up sleeping shots. Lifestyle newborn photography is another alternative for newborn portraits. Lifestyle portraits are done in the comfort of your own home and can occur during the first 10 days or up to 6 weeks of age. With the older newborn, there will be some limitations in the different shots available. Usually the baby is more awake and therefore less sleeping shots are available. The curled up poses are also a little more difficult to get baby to pose in once past 14 days. However, they are still a wonderful time to document in the babies life.

Baby B was 5 weeks old when I came and visited his home with his wonderful parents and animal sibling, Buddy. What a wonderful home they have and what a joy to photograph in. It had tons of light and everything was neutral decor (and very clean I should add!). I hope they didn’t spend the day before my arrival cleaning the whole house. Never worry about that because we can always rearrange furniture or move things out of the picture. Thanks again C family and I hope to see Baby B for some milestone pictures.

Beautiful family | Moorestown Family Photographer

This wonderful family came to me for a holiday photo shoot. The mom is my instructor at the gym I go to and she is such a motivator for me. She is wonderful at what she does. She cares about each and every person that is in her class. So when she asked me to take portraits of her kids I was delighted. She has such a great family, everyone with such personality and spunk. I was so glad that I could provide her with wonderful images for her holiday cards and portraits on her walls. Once she has them up I will show you what they will look like. I can’t wait to see it. Thanks again I family. It was such a pleasure.

This is going to be their first child so they are very excited. I have know this mama for a long time as she is my sister’s friend from high school. It is so nice to see her so happy and very excited about this new chapter in their lives. I was so glad that I could capture the beauty and love between them during this time. Can’t wait to meet baby H soon. Good luck guys with the delivery.

What should I wear for my family portraits? – South Jersey Holiday Portrait Photographer

The biggest question that I always get asked is “What should we wear?” or “What should the kids wear.” I’m going to go over a lot of information during this blog post so hopefully it won’t be too much for you.. When you are trying to figure out what to wear it can be a stressful time. Nowadays everyone doesn’t wear the usual white shirts and khaki pants although we all have at some point ( I know we did.) White isn’t a good color because it washes you out so I suggest staying away from that color unless you are layering it underneath something.
Top 5 tips:

1. Figure out what color scheme you want.

One of the things I ask my clients is where are you going to hang or display your wall portraits. What colors are in that room? Let’s say the room is beige/browns and you have on hot pink and lavenders, those pictures won’t look very good hanging on the wall. Some people might not care about that and others will. There are many websites in the internet that can help you with color schemes. Some are my favorites are Design Seeds and Pinterest. Here are some examples from Design Seeds to help you to choose from. Design Seeds has all sorts of color palettes that they choose from a picture. You can use them to help with clothing choices and also for your home decorating projects.

2. Get some inspiration from Pinterest.

Pick one or two colors and then you can fill in the rest with the neutral colors, like tan, white, black and grey. Find a neat plaid shirt and take the colors from that as other accents. I would suggest having the kids with the accent colors since you want them to “pop” in the portrait. Then the adults can accent their outfits with those colors by layering with jackets, scarfs, ties, hats etc. Here are some of my Pinterest boards to help you with some already coordinated outfits.

3. Add layers to help accessorize your outfits.

Hats, scarfs, headbands, vests, ties and jewelry all add dimension and layers to your portraits. For girls and women it is easy to accessorize their outfits but it is harder for the boys and men. They can always wear ties or vests or neat hats if they want. Think about neat necklaces and scarfs for the women and girls. Little girls usually like to play dress up so accessorize them to the nines. Even cute tights and boots are great on them.

4. Lay it all out before the day of the shoot.

Lay all of the outfits out on the floor or your bed to see how they look together. A good idea is to try to split up the pairs that are naturally drawn to each other. For example, mom and baby. You don’t want them to both be wearing yellow so break up the colors. If brother and sister or 2 sisters are together  a lot then break up those colors. It will all flow a lot better.

5. AND LAST BY NOT LEAST, MAKE SURE MOM LIKES WHAT SHE IS WEARING!!

If Mom isn’t comfortable in what she is wearing, she won’t like the pictures. Start with your outfit and work down to the kids and your husband. Feel good in  your clothes. Son’t wear anything too tight because it isn’t flattering. If you don’t like your arms, don’t wear short sleeves wear 3/4 sleeves. Worry about yourself for once. Your kids and husband will love that you are in the picture with them and not always the ones taking the pictures.

Hopefully you all made it through my ramblings. If you have any questions, feel free to give me a call 856-313-0130 or drop me an email  michelle@michellebakerphotography.com

Beautiful Newborn Girl | Cherry Hill Child Baby Photographer

I had the pleasure of photographing this beautiful newborn girl last month from Cherry Hill, NJ. Hard to believe she is almost 6 weeks old now. Boy how time flies. I photographed her cousins about 2 years ago. Here’s their blog post.

She was such an angel and did a great job during her first photo shoot. What a head of hair she was born with. She reminded me of my son. He had the same thick hair that she did. Maybe we both had a lot of heartburn? Thanks for allowing me to photograph your beautiful daughter I & J. Enjoy your special time and try to get some sleep. I hope to see you for some milestone pictures in a few months.

See the potential…. | Moorestown Family Photographer

I have a new and exciting program to show you that I am now using during your in person ordering session. I am able to take the images from your portrait session and project them onto a wall in different groupings. This way you can see how an 8×10 isn’t big enough to go over your mantel of your fireplace. Do you need ideas on how to arrange a grouping of images on a wall over your couch or bed? I can even show you how your image would look in a nursery. The other nice thing is I can take a picture of your wall and then place the groupings right on that wall so you can visualize it in real time. I will give you ideas for wall display designs free and you don’t even need to hire a decorator. Here are some examples of some of the room pictures we can use.

The next picture I took of the studio with my iPad to try to figure out a grouping of pictures above the couch. The neat thing is for me to come to your home and take a picture of your wall that you want pictures on and we can design it. Then you can see what it would look like if you actually hung the pictures up there. Feel free to call me or email to talk about how we can utilize program in your home. If you would like to use it with images from an old session, that is fine too.
